Assalamualaikum
Hari ini terserempak dengan sebuah artikel dalam BBC news pasal "Religion vs Creationism in modern-day faiths". It is literally a forum for two man discussing about the concept of evolution and its relevance to religion (Inayat Bungalawa (represent Islam) and Reverend Greg Haslam (represent Christianity).
Ok, is it weird that I found myself relating more to Greg's train of thoughts? I do not accept Darwin's theory which in this case, implied so much to dismissing the existence of God. Although Inayat gives quite good explanations, I really would have liked it if he can find more elaboration in Islam itself and not just scientifically explain stuff. Thinking back, I remember reading a book by Harun Yahya where he explains why Darwinism is not relevant in Islam.
What I dislike about Darwinism is how it had, in essence, become the trigger that boost atheism in the world. Other than the fact that it has made a convenient relationship with science through its scientific rationale, hence making the idea of reconciling religion and science a paradox, Darwinism is in my opinion, a misguided explanation of Sunatullah. (now, that's a long sentence)
Sunatullah is the way Allah has organized the world. In English, they call it Mother Nature. This rules follow the same route every time and usually, it's a cycle. Let's take Photosynthesis. It's the conversion of CO2 to oxygen. We breathe, exhaling carbon dioxide, the trees take it in as part of the elements for Photosynthesis and as the by-product, oxygen is produced. And we inhale that. When there is external factors that disrupt this, the cycle does not just fall apart. It will try to balance the effect. This is how the laws of the nature occurs.
The concept of evolution especially the one about the ape evolving bit by bit into a human being, I find it revolting. In my perspective, I feel like Darwin is combining two different cycles that really does not fit. There are experiments performed by aspiring scientists that try to prove that apes can, if put into the environment that allows it, evolve and have intelligence. Intelligence, people! Of course this experiment fails terribly. The ape becomes violent and hurt the family's children. I don't want to look at this from a bias perspective but really. The idea itself is just... inconceivable. It's like two paragraphs that are not cohesive. Evolution by my own definition is the way species try to adapt to the environment due to drastic changes that occur in their habitat cycle and these changes happen while the species still abiding to their function as an agent in the habitat. Do you get it?
Basically, all these organisms have their functions. If there is no function at all, the species will cease to exist and eventually extinct. That's just how the order goes. We are humans, and our function in this world is to become Allah's vicegerent in this world and His slave. Back in Adam as time, he was not reborn to the world. He was sent down to Earth with Hawa. SENT DOWN. That is why homosapiens sp. (as labelled by scientists), don't have an original form pre-evolution.
This is my opinion. Only Allah knows best. If you find conflicting ideas or anything at all that is wrong, it is not from any book. It's just me rambling my POV.
I think I'll end this here. If you guys want to talk about this in usrah, give me a heads-up ok. :)
May Allah show us to His straight path. Ameen.
